hi there, im new to all this & Know nothing about coachbuilt prams but here goes..... i have just been given an old silver cross pram for when my daughter is older (shes only 12 months old), i dont know the age or model sorry (its at least 30yrs old & navy with rose plaques on either side) it has been made into a single pram but id like to 'Try' and get it back to its original style/condition ut dont really know where to start the C chassis & body has been painted badly with gloss paint, as has the wheels & basket, there is only 1 hood with (arms & frame) the hood is all ripped as the frame has no corner protectors. the apron is a single apron though as its a double pram it doesnt fasten. iv seen plenty of single hoods for sale on ebay/internet but have never come across a twin hood....or are they the same? is it possible to get the chassis & wheels re-chromed? will this cost more than its worth. id love to see my daughter with this in years to come (i have a few years to get it ready lol) and would love to put in the odd bit of work myself.....but have no idea where to start! im just about to take some photos of it, im quite jelous really i always wanted one of these as a girl but never got one.....which is why im putting so much effort (and money) into this little beauty (eventually) if anyone could offer me some advice id be truely gratefull many thanks, louise

Hello LouiseYou may have more luck if you keep it to a single rather than try and find a twin hood as they are a different shape from the single hoods. It sounds as though you are going to need the hood recovering and a new apron making to fit the pram. But I wouldn't go to the trouble - and expense - of having the chassis chromed, just get it resprayed and do the wheels the same colour as they would originally have been like that when it was new, unless it was the more expensive model and then the wheels may have been chromed, but it is doubtful. I think you will be pleasantly surprised if you just do a paint job on it and refresh the bodywork with some T-cut and some silicon polish, get the hood and apron redone and it will look pretty good.Kind regardsPat.

I'm assuming this is a dolls pram, if so it's my understanding they didn'y make the toy "Rose" as a twin and as Pat said best do it as a single. The C chassis would have been painted anyway as they never chromed them, if chroming the wheels is too expensive then you can always do them "country" wheels and paint them to match the body and chassis. My daughters enjoyed their doll prams until age 10 and now my 3 youngest GD's play with theirs regularily, my eldest GD is now 17 and saving hers-sits in her room with her fav doll and teddy in it!!!! Really worth the money spent on them. All the best Frances aka pramlady
