CRICH TRAMWAY MUSEUM
On Sunday last, 12th July 2009 Anne, Jackie, Jeananne and I went to Crich Tramway Museum near Matlock in Derbyshire. We had a wonderful day walking around the "Tramway Village" looking at the buildings, the little shops, the tram museum, which was amazing, houses lot of beautiful trams and it is well worth a visit. This particular weekend they were hosting an Edwardian Weekend when everyone was encouraged to dress in costume. As you know, that is one of my hobbies and so my friends and I were in our element. It's also a way of taking our prams out to the public so they can see what real prams used to look like! It really is surprising how many people ask if real babies used to ride in them, just as though they think buggies have always been around and of course we tell them how wonderful it is to push one of these lovely old ladies. We always offer to let them try for themselves and they are usually astounded at how easy it is! One lady approached me with her three children and said "it must have been a very bumpy ride for the babies!" So I said, just push this pram around for a while and see what you think! She came back in a different frame of mind!!
Here are some photos for you to see what we got up to.
