ONSLOW PARK STEAM SHOW 2009

Well, Onslow Steam Show has come and gone yet again!  This year was amazing, so many prammies came, so many visitors made lovely comments and several of the lovely ladies who have been my customers over the years came to see me - it was absolutely delightful!

On a more sober note, Jan Oakes, who has run this exhibit for many years both here at Onslow and also at the Great Dorset Steam Fair lost her lovely husband Peb just a couple of weeks ago but she decided to come to the show in honour of his memory.  Peb adored the Steam Shows and was always there to help and advise people if they had questions, he will be sorely missed by many, many people.  Jan asked me to take over her exhibit for this year and I was only too pleased I could help.

Here are some photos for you to browse through,  I will try and subtitle them if I can, but after the first few you will know who's who.

My Blue French "Paper" Pram and Diana Butcher's fabulous International Baby Carriage which she and her husband Paul have just finished restoring.

An excellent turnout from the guest exhibitors

We had the pleasure of "Queen B"   Beryl Garwood and her husband Terry at our exhibit, not to mention Teddy her beautiful apricot poodle.  Beryl has a thing for poodles so Susan Clovergem customised an Osnath Queen for her and painted poodles along the side - as you can see in the photo.     Beryl has owned over 700 prams over her collecting lifetime and was a personal friend of Jack Hampshire, often visiting him at Bettenham Manor.  Beryl has owned more Marmet Queens than I've had hot dinners, that's why she's called "Queen B"!!

Norman and Lorraine - Prams of Distinction - having a cuddle for the camera!

Lorraine with her beloved Millsons Prince "Peter Rabbit" pram, looking a picture in her pink 1960s outfit.

Sandra - Coachbuilt Prams - off to the parade with her spectacular Marmet Lady

Yours Truly wearing my copy of a V&A 1900 dress

Anne Bartle wearing her favourite colour and pushing an immaculate - all original - SilverCross Deauville

Jackie - Classical Baby Prams - pushing a very rare London Baby Coach twin pram which belongs to Lorraine Illingworth.

I have to say, Diana absolutely stole the show with her 1912 International Baby Carriage and dressed in my Titanic outfit - they were made for each other!!

My Jeananne in her new costume, an 1890s bustle skirt and cuirass jacket, plumed hat and purple Docs !!!

This lady is a regular exhibitor at Onslow and pushes her 1900s Victoria.

Doris McDougall with her 1960s Osnath Duchess.  Doris is dressed as a 1960s Health Visitor which is fitting as that is her actual job!

I had to include this photograph.  The bicycles were exhibited along with the perambulators and this little lad was dressed in his shirt, short trousers, braces and wellies and was peddling his little tricycle around the field like fury.  It was so reminiscent of how little boys looked when I was a child.

The line-up!

Anne with her Deauville.

Norman and Roy undertaking some urgent repairs to Sandra's Lady

Prammie chat!

Jeananne being chatted up by a cockatoo - I think he fancied her because he thought she was another bird with pink feathers!!
