QUEEN VICTORIA'S BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS AT BLISTS HILL
I went to Blists Hill Victorian Town on Sunday 24th May where they were celebrating Queen Victoria's Birthday! There were hoards of people and a lot of them were dressed in costume. It's funny but if you are dressed in costume, other people in costume always pass the time of day "Good Morning Ma'am" or "Good Afternoon Sir", I would imagine it's just like being back in the 1800s! I was resting in the garden minding two prams whilst Jeananne took Theo down to the schoolroom for his "lesson" and a lovely lady with her son, Lazlo, and her daughter came to talk to me. The little baby boy was gorgeous but absolutely filthy, he had started out in white clothes but with all the dust and smoke he had ended up completely grubby. Naturally, being a good prammie, I offered my pram to put him in whilst his mother had a rest from holding him and she readily agreed! Here are the photos! I've got a real baby in my Victorian pram girls !!!!

My grandson Theo was dressed for the occasion too, I have to say he didn't stay clean for very long either but he certainly enjoyed the experience especially seeing the soldiers in their red coats, carrying their rifles and bayonets.

He loves to take photographs so I loaned him my camera, expecting him to take lots of photographs of people and perhaps the odd one of his mother and grandmother - but no!!! Soldiers were his main interest!!!!! In fact he took 8 photos of the soldiers out of 11 in total.

But as I said he did take the odd photo of his mum and me - just as we were leaving - it was so hot and we were beginning to expire inside the costumes. I think I should consider making some summer outfits now!
